Professional Competencies for Heritage Spanish Speakers Certificate

°µÍøTV SLP undergraduate students have the opportunity to earn a Professional Competencies for Heritage Spanish Speakers Certificate. This option is available to students with existing language competence in Spanish.

The requirements for this certificate include 

• Must be a matriculated student in °µÍøTV SLP Undergraduate Program
• °µÍøTV must demonstrate proficiency in Spanish by 1) an AP score of 5 in Spanish Language and Culture or 4 in AP Spanish Literature and Culture.; 2) the equivalent of SPAN 201B, 200, or 250 at another institution; 3) a placement test score of Intermediate High or better. °µÍøTV who do not meet the above requirements must take SPAN 201B or 250.
• °µÍøTV must complete the following courses
  • Required Courses: SPAN 300, SPAN 315
  • Electives (6 units required): Choose from SPAN 225, 227, 335A, 335B, 461, SPAN 494*, SPAN 465, SPAN 462, 463, and 464
  • SPAN 494 may be substituted with SLP 462. °µÍøTV enrolled in the undergrad SLPA practicum course are required to primarily work with Spanish-speaking patients and families.
