Certificate in Community College Instruction

(This new self-support certificate was approved by the °µÍøTV Academic Senate on September 23, 2026, and approved by the °µÍøTV President on September 30, 2026.)

The Certificate in Community College Instruction program prepares participants to thrive as instructors in community colleges. Designed primarily for current and future °µÍøTVCommunity College (CCC) faculty, the program’s 4 courses reflect an asset-based approach to community colleges and their students, grounded in equity and social justice. The courses provide students with the practical and theoretical knowledge to design and deliver impactful learning experiences for the diverse students in the CCC, a clear grasp of community colleges and their mission, and an understanding of the structure and relevant policy environments related to CCC.

The CCC is the nation’s largest and most diverse public higher education system, serving more than 2 million students each year. CCC students reflect a tapestry of racial and ethnic backgrounds, with many the first in their families to attend college. Talented, committed, and effective instructors are key to helping these students achieve their educational goals.

°µÍøTV in this certificate program will take 4 required courses, delivered over a 9-to-12-month period, with a mix of synchronous and asynchronous online instruction. Courses are taught by faculty who are experts in their fields and have significant professional experience in the CCC. While we admit students from beyond California, the focus of much of the content is on the California community colleges.
